Description

This software executable is a simple sorting program that allows the user to append together the output data files from Gene Ontology (GO) counting programs that assign genes and their associated GO terms into hierarchical groupings (i.e., GO-slim categories).  Gene lists in a two column tab-delimited format (i.e., gene name with associated GO term) may be entered into software platforms such as the ‘Terms Classification Counter’ (https://www.animalgenome.org/cgi-bin/util/gotreei).  Depending upon the GO-slim analyzer chosen the program will return GO slim terms and their associated counts that fall into one of three GO hierarchies (i.e., Biological Process (BP), Cellular Component (CC), or Molecular Function (MF)).  If the user is analyzing the data from multiple experiments, the gene lists may be appended together into a new file and entered into this program.  The program will sort the data into a tabular format across all the GO terms identified among all the appended file datasets.  This makes the output suitable to select and copy given columns of data into another file that may be used as input for the backward elimination ‘Heterogeneity G-test’ program (doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.13133983).  This program tests for significant pairwise differences in counts among the different GO parent terms being analyzed.  Additional information how to use the program is provided in the accompanying WORD NOTES or NOTES.pdf documents.
