WORK ENGAGEMENT, ORGANIZATIONAL COMMITMENT, AND EMPLOYEE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS OF RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT COMPANIES IN METRO MANILA: BASIS FOR EMPLOYEE RETENTION FRAMEWORK

Description

By employing both descriptive and correlational methodologies, the study aimed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the research and development companies specifically from three pharmaceutical companies in Metro Manila. The descriptive research design focused on systematically collecting data to describe the situation and three host pharmaceutical institutions engaged in research and development. Supplementing the descriptive approach, the correlational research design aimed to quantify the relationships between variables or sets of scores. This involved identifying variables of work engagement, organizational commitment and employee development programs, and their interrelationships to ascertain potential significant correlations. Results revealed that there was strong evidence for both work engagement and organizational commitment while moderate evidence for employee development programs. These variables have significant connections with each other. Based from the findings, the proposed employee retention framework may be used to improve the employee retention at research and development companies especially within the pharmaceutical industry. Future researchers may use other variables that could have similar effects on the work engagement of research and development companies especially within the pharmaceutical industry.
