Description

An early description of “land scurvy” was by Olaus Magnus, a Swedish writer and Catholic clergyman (1490-1557). He wrote an 800-page book about life in the Nordic countries which was published in 1555.

Two sections in the book describe symptoms which are consistent with scurvy. Olaus Magnus wrote in Latin and this document contains the English and Finnish translations of the two sections.
