Work Motivation and Organizational Culture as Factors Influencing Job Satisfaction of Library Personnel in Private Universities in South Western Nigeria

The study examined work motivation and organizational culture as factors influencing job satisfaction among library personnel in private Universities in South Western Nigeria. The questionnaire was used to elicit information from respondents. All library personnel in the study areas were involved. One hundred and seventy-seven (177) male and female respondents who were library personnel in the South-West were used for the study. Frequency distributions and standard deviation were also used to analyze the data. Multivariate analysis was done with the use of a regression test. One hundred and fifty (84.8%) of the questionnaires were
returned and were used for data analysis, showing that (53.5%) were males while (46.7%) were females. The regression analysis revealed a significant relationship between the following: I. Work Motivation and Job Satisfaction II. Organizational Culture and job
satisfaction. Also, it was further revealed that the combination of the above (2) independent variables has a significant relationship with job satisfaction. The study recommended that work motivation and organizational culture are factors to be considered to improve job satisfaction in private universities in South Western Nigeria. The study recommended that priority should be given to work motivation and organizational culture in designing intervention programmes to enhance job satisfaction among library personnel in South Western Nigeria.
