Review of existing methods for assessing walking ability in broiler chickens
Creators
Description
Walking ability is a highly important animal-based indicator of welfare in broilers. Currently, multiple methods exist to assess walking ability that vary in the level of observer training required, the equipment required and the overall feasibility of implementation. This review examines the technical and scientific literature on existing methods for assessing walking ability in broilers, as well as assesses the reliability, validity, and feasibility of the different methods, when available.
