- Recently, the invasive alien species Zelus renardii Kolenati, 1857 (Hemiptera: Reduviidae) was reported for the first time from the Canary Islands, based on one adult specimen found in the south of Tenerife in September 2021 (BAENA & SANTOS, 2021).
- Now, the presence of the species on the Canary Islands can be confirmed: On 09-02-2022, an adult specimen of Z. renardii was found and photographed by Camilla Lund Kristensen in Playa de las Americas in the south of Tenerife (Fig. 1). Several photographs of the specimen were uploaded to the online database iNaturalist (see here).
