Magnetic Fields in Cool Dwarf Stars
Description
Recent advancements in high-resolution optical and near-infrared instrumentation have led to significant progress in understanding magnetic fields in main-sequence cool active stars. This includes ultra-precise measurements of the global fields of Sun-like stars, applications of magnetic broadening and intensification methods to measure the total magnetic field intensity, and tremendous expansion of our knowledge of the magnetic fields in low-mass stars thanks to new near-infrared spectroscopic and spectropolarimetric facilities. In this presentation, I summarise some of these developments, focusing on the most impactful studies.
