Dr. A. P. J Abdul Kalam, the 11th President of India, a great scientist and a great human being; popularly known as the Missile Man of India, was a tremendous personality having all the noble qualities a one can possibly imagine. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam was born in 1931 in the fishing island of Rameshwaram, Tamil Nadu, India. His parents were from a middle-class family with high ethical standards. While at school he was highly influenced by his teachers. That inculcated a habit of trying to ask questions to understand nature, to enjoy it and to be one with it. His quest to understand the flight of the birds gave him the Wings of Fire. He learnt compassion from his mother and strict discipline from his brother, who was nearly sixteen years elder to him. His father set an example for him to follow and practice religious tolerance and societal integration. The recipe for success was well engrained in him at the very initial stage of his life through his teachers and family. The leadership quality in him is also to be worth mentioning. He was an admirable leader for everyone and especially for the youths. The youthful ignitions what he had in his entire life periods was enormous and at the same time that was highly prejudiced by his own teachers to him. He had also admitted it many times in his stirring autobiography named ‘Wings of Fire’ (1999) and in many of his lectures. The full paper describes many of his leadership phenomena throughout his life and also describes about the role of his own inspiring teachers who youthfully ignites him to be the Iconic Kalam.
