Description

Eisenia japonica (Michaelsen, 1892)

Material examined. Samples from Songsaneup volcanic cone, collected 16 th Feb. 2012 by RJB (unregistered). Samples from Mt Halla near Nongyo Bridge on Rt 516 16 th Feb., 2012 (unregistered); and further under bridge on Rt 516 two mature specimens, one (IV0000251103) providing DNA (WO45 redone as w18 and as w18b), the other (IV0000251104). Sanbangsan in drain next to Temple, specimens inspected but not registered. DNA results are in the Appendix.

Remarks. This taxon was first recorded on Jeju by Kobayashi (1941) is here confirmed. A redescription based on types by the author is reported in Blakemore and Grygier (2011).
