Description
Using this code, we studied how behaviour-selective fishing affects the optimal behavioural and life-history traits. The model used is a state-dependent dynamic programming model. The model finds optimal life-long trajectories for foraging, growth, and reproduction. Different gear types were modelled as being selective for actively foraging or hiding/resting individuals along a continuous axis, including unselective fishing. We obtained the values for foraging strategy and energy allocation that maximized the expected lifetime gonad production. This method allowed us to find the evolutionary endpoints for several scenarios, where fishing is selective for different behaviours
