Influence of Fly Ash blending on hydration and physical behavior of Belite-Alite-Ye'elimite cement

Description

Three cement containing belite-alite-ye’elimite cement blended with 0, 15 and 30 wt% of fly ash have been characterized. The contribution of fly ash to the hydration reactions resulted in both the partial inhibition of AFt degradation and belite reactivity, even after 180 days. The compressive strength was enhanced with the increase of fly ash addition (68, 73 and 82 MPa for 0, 15 and 30 wt% of fly ash, respectively at 180d), mainly due to a decrease of the porosity and pore size. Pozzolanic reaction has not been proved directly but there are indirect evidences.
