Description
Rigamo, a commercial data logger for Ritter milligasCounters, restricts the number of available reading channels according to the license purchased, thereby limiting the scope of experimental operations. This paper introduces the Arduino Gasmeter Data Acquisition Control (AGDAC) prototype to overcome the limitations of its expensive and inflexible data acquisition systems. AGDAC uses the affordable Arduino Uno board and a Python-based control application to offer a precise and accessible data acquisition solution. The control application displays and archives measurement data, ensuring a comprehensive historical record for monitoring biogas production dynamics at the lab scale. Its simplicity and accessibility enable customization and scalability of the system to accommodate diverse experimental designs, offering a valuable tool for researchers. Importantly, AGDAC is user-friendly, eliminating barriers for those with limited experience in instrument development or coding. Furthermore, AGDAC’s foundation on free and open-source software promotes the development of advanced scientific applications. This innovative prototype not only addresses the limitations of costly and inflexible data acquisition systems but also encourages interdisciplinary research, ultimately saving time and reducing expenses. AGDAC is a pivotal step toward democratizing data acquisition and fostering innovative scientific endeavors
