The Poetics of Space in Emily Dickinson's Poetry
Creators
Description
I argue that the poetry of Emily Dickinson gives us exemplary insight into what
Gaston Bachelard has termed the poetics of space-the mundane, yet intimate domestic spaces
that construct our sense of selfhood and security, of identity and of alterity. I investigate
Dickinson’s poetry for its cognitive insight and visionary construction of spatial forms.
