Patient's adherence to deferasirox and its impact on ferritin

Data of 171 patients with thalassemia were analyzed in this study.  As conclusion, a low level of adherence toward deferasirox was noted among patients with thalassemia. Adherence level was directly associated with patients’ knowledge of the disease and its therapy, while ferritin level was inversely linked to the adherence level. Thus, tailored, and effective strategies are needed to optimize chelation therapy to improve patient outcomes.
