FORDA FERSON: A PSYCHOLINGUISTIC ANALYSIS OF PERCEPTIONS AND COMMUNICATION FREQUENCY PATTERNS AMONG GENERATION Z SPEAKERS

This qualitative study examined the perceptions and communication frequency patterns of Filipino Generation Z speakers regarding the slang phrase "forda ferson." Drawing insights from twenty key informants in Gingoog City, the research explored the frequency, contextual usage, associated meanings, and communicative contributions of the slang. Utilizing content analysis, the study revealed that "forda ferson" facilitated informal and playful communication, fostering camaraderie among speakers. While it effectively described actions and behaviors within social groups, its usage also posed comprehensibility challenges for those outside the immediate social and generational context. The findings underscored the dynamic nature of language evolution, indicating that the popularity of slang terms like "forda ferson" might decline over time. This research highlighted the interplay between language and social interaction, showcasing how slang emerged to fulfill specific communicative needs while reflecting broader societal shifts.
