Type material. Holotype ( ♀ ): “ Peru, Loreto, 100 m, 24.Sept.2006, R. Westerduijn leg.” / “Beating foliage of fruiting Averrhoa carambola annually flooded woodlAnd, PAdre IslA.”

Description.

Female: Habitus as in Fig. 1. Measurements (in mm): TL 1.6, EW 1.1. Dorsal integument light brown, setation brown and yellow. Ventral integument brown, covered by yellow setation (Fig. 2). Head dense and finely punctated, covered by suberected yellow setae. Palpi light brown. Median frontal ocellus present. Eyes large with distinctly visible long, black microsetae. Antennae light brown, with 11 antennomeres, antennal club with 5 antennomeres (Fig. 3). Pronotum with light darkish brown integument and long, recumbent, yellow setation; similar but less densely punctated as the head. Scutellum very small, without setation. Elytra with light brown integument and long suberected, yellow and brown setation. Brown setation forming a large circular spot near scutellum and one broad, transverse fascia in the posterior part of each elytron. Punctuation of elytra nearly as dense as that of head, but less coarse. Epipleuron light brown with yellow recumbent setation. Metasternum darkish brown, coarsely punctate. Abdominal ventrites densely and finely punctated, darkish brown, with yellow, recumbent setation. Legs light brown with short, recumbent, yellow setae.

Male: So far unknown.

Differential diagnosis. The new species differs from other known species belonging to subgenus Caccoleptus Sharp, 1902 by its light brown colour, body form, structure of antennae and arrangement of the setation on the elytra. From the other known Peruvian species, the new species differs by the characters shown in the following key.
