Evaluation of Load Flow Analysis of the Nigerian 330kv Transmission Network Using Particle Swarm Optimization Technique

Description

Nigeria, despite being the most populous country in Africa with significant energy resources, struggles with inadequate electricity supply and frequent power outages. This research explores the critical challenges within Nigeria's power sector, including long transmission lines, excessive power losses, voltage instability, and rampant corruption. It also highlights the importance of reliable power for socio-economic development and achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). Utilizing Electrical Transient Analyzer Program (ETAP) and MATLAB software, this study employs the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) technique to perform load flow analysis and enhance voltage regulation in the Nigerian 330kV transmission network. The research aims to provide a comprehensive solution to the persistent power failures in Nigeria, ensuring efficient power distribution and improved power quality and the results shows that error margin is -3.1051 at the first iteration.
