Online Research Panel (ORP): A New Research Panel in Social and Economic Sciences

The Online Research Panel (ORP) is being developed as part of the Next Generation EU-funded FOSSR project – Fostering Open Science in Social Science Research. It is one of the few research panels in Italy accessible to researchers, academics, and public agencies under the principle of Open Science. ORP aims to provide an accurate and diverse representation of the Italian population aged 18 and above, supporting a wide range of academic and governmental applications.

• Enable researchers and policymakers to understand the interplay of social, economic, and environmental developments.
• Provide a rapid response to emerging trends while offering long-term insights into various processes.
 
Description
ORP consists of a diverse selection of Italian citizens who are regularly surveyed online about politics, health, economy, society, and the environment. It aims to quickly gather scientifically valid data on the behavior, preferences, and attitudes of the population on significant Italian and international issues.
 
Unique Features
Inclusivity. Actively engages traditionally under-represented groups, including those with PhDs.
Focus on Key Areas. Emphasizes political and environmental participation, examining conditions fostering civil society vitality and economic development.
 
Panel Composition
Demographics. Broad representation of Italian adults (18+).
Special Groups. Focus on high-qualified individuals like PhD holders.
Survey Frequency. Regular online surveys ensuring timely data collection.
 
Data Validity
Methodological Rigor. Employs solid methodologies to mitigate common biases (self-selection and mode biases).
Robust Design. Ensures a comprehensive coverage of Italian population characteristics.
