Experimental Observations on the Mysterious Explosions from 'Yellow Powder' to enable Yet More Speculation
Authors/Creators
Description
Yellow powder (YP) is a simple pyrotechnic mixture that detonates under sustained heang due to an unknown mechanism. While it is possible to speculate of the mechanism behind this explosion, the explanation must naturally align with basic experimental observations.
Through simplistic experiments, this work shows that the high reliability of the explosion, as well as the capacity to detonate over large composional changes in the yellow powder dictate that a complex yet consistent mechanism is taking place; one which warrants further study.
