Based on the results, it was discovered that the level of comprehension of the respondents which obtained a weighted mean of 49.78 was in frustration. The study also found that the low comprehension level of the respondents is influenced by a collective internal and external factor such as interest, insufficient reading materials, low exposure to language, absenteeism, and lack of reading habit. From the collected data, it is recommended for the reading teachers to develop an appropriate reading activity that give emphasis on the specific needs of the students and takes into account the factors that influence the ability of the students to understand reading text and materials in Filipino.
