Description

The study of a collection of 70 specimens of Asilidae from Vietnam, collected during the entomological expeditions organised in the period 2010-2017 by the Natural History Museum of the University of Florence and the Vietnam National Museum of Nature, revealed the presence of 24 species. Nine species are new for science and are described and illustrated: Anacinaces lieni sp. n.; Cerdistus setaelongus sp. n.; Clephydroneura serrula sp. n.; Heligmonevra bambii sp. n.; Neoitamus laocaiensis sp. n.; Molobratia hoabinhensis sp. n.; Andrenosoma orbachi sp. n.; Choerades xuansonensis sp. n.; Merodontina vietnamensis sp. n. Seven species are also quoted for the first time from Vietnam: Astochia lancealata Scarbrough & Biglow, 2004, Hoplopheromerus guangdongi Tomasovic, 2006, Pogonosoma cyanogaster Bezzi, 1917, Lagynogaster suensoni Frey, 1937, Laloides tigris Tomasovic & Grootaert, 2003, Microstylum oberthurii Wulp, 1896, and Microstylum vulcan Bromley, 1928.
