Abstract
The research actualizes the issues of sustainable urban development in the context of increasing urbanization, assuming that by 2050 two thirds of the world's population will live in cities. This article discusses the various benefits of urban living, such as the availability of a variety of services and ample employment opportunities. However, the study also reveals significant problems related to the urban environment, including traffic jams and significant pollution of our environment. Special attention in the study is paid to the concept of a "smart city" as one of the most promising and innovative solutions to improve the situation. The study also highlights the importance of taking into account factors such as location, socio-economic situation and the level of development of a particular city when developing a smart development strategy. The recommendations of the study are aimed at adapting intelligent technologies in order to ensure the sustainable and efficient development of urban infrastructure. An important aspect of these recommendations is to take into account the diversity of priorities and needs of different cities, which is necessary to create more comfortable, safe and environmentally friendly living conditions. These conditions, in turn, will contribute to a significant improvement in the quality of life of citizens, which is especially important in conditions of accelerating urbanization.
