Description

The GEOL-QMAPS digital geological mapping solution consists of a QGIS field data entry template designed to be an open-source, collaborative tool, with user feedback-based upgrading. It works together with a custom QGIS plugin providing tools facilitating existing field data import to the template, fieldwork preparation and field database management (available at https://github.com/swaxi/WAXI_QF). Althought this solution has been implemented in the framework of the stage 4 of the West African eXploration Initiative project (https://waxi4.org/), it is important to highlight that the template and plugin are in no way ‘hard-wired’ to the West African region and can be considered as a general solution adaptable to any mapping guidelines.

 The downloadable archive file contains:

- two tutorial .pdf presentations (with and without notes) (i) explaining the workflow to customise/edit the core QGIS project template, export it as a QField package ready to use on the field and post-processing syncing to QGIS desktop, and (ii) providing details about attribute forms of field data entry shapefiles available,

- a folder containing the QGIS mapping project template and related files customised for field data collection,

- a .docx log file providing updates of the different releases of the QGIS template project.
