Genus Sinervus Stål

Type species: Sinervus baerensprungi Stål, 1860:56. Monotypic.

Sinervus Stål 1860: 56; Carvalho 1957:124 (catalog); Odhiambo 1962: 248 (diagnosis); Ferreira & Henry 2011:25 (diagnosis, key to Minas Gerais spp.); Schuh 2003-2013 (online catalog); Henry & Howard 2016 (review of genus).

Diagnosis. Head triangular, wider than long, with deeply sunken concave vertex; eyes strongly stalked, extending upward and posteriorly. Hemelytra parallel-sided, hyaline, sparsely setose; embolium narrow; cuneus long, tapering, somewhat curved toward the apex of membrane; legs elongated and slender.

Remarks. Henry & Howard (2016) reviewed the genus Sinervus and described Sinervaspartus, n. gen. A diagnosis, illustrations of species, and keys to the species of the genus are presented. A key to distinguishing the Sinervus-Spartacus complex (Sinervus, Spartacus, and Sinervaspartus) has also been made (Henry & Howard 2016). Most specimens of the genus Sinervus were taken on the undersides of broad leaves.
