Description

Apotomorhamphus parcesetosus Voss

Apotomorhamphus parcesetosa Voss, 1940: 284–285 [incorrect original spelling]. Type locality: Mt. Lompobattang, Parasalamakki.

Description. (Fig. 3a). Length. Pronotum plus elytron 4.52–5.58 mm. Integument uniformly covered with appressed, broad scales of green iridescent color (Fig. 2d); with very sparse elongate recumbent scales interspersed. Article 2 of antennal funicle 1.6 X longer than article 1. Pronotum punctate, with sparse granules between scales. Elytral intervals with very indistinct granules. Genitalia. Penis (Fig. 3b).

Material examined. INDONESIA, S-Sulawesi, S-Sulawesi, Gn. Lompobatang, Malakaji, Parambintolo, 1600–2130 m, 22-IX-1997; 45 exx, DNA extraction ARC6638 (GenBank # OR557453) (ARC, SMNK); 1 ex, Pic v. Bonthain, Drs. Sarasin (SMTD).

Notes. The type series of this species is missing. Its description and its type locality both fit the specimens at hand. The species appears to be closely related to A. sarasini Faust (10.4% cox1 p-distance), but superficially very similar to A. splendens Faust (12.8% cox1 p-distance). It differs from the former by the uniform green elytral vestiture and from the latter by its larger body. The species was regarded as a synonym of A. splendens Faust by Günther (1943). The name “ Apotomorhamphus parcesetosa Voss ” is an incorrect original spelling; since it is an adjective, it must coincide in gender with the genus name.
