Providing monthly hydropower for 593 plants with nameplate capacity > 10MW, RectifHydPlus includes additional years of monthly data (1980 - 2019), expanded proxy information to support hydropower estimation at monthly resolution, and additional monthly hydropower generation observations from the California Energy Commission. RectifHyd provides estimated monthly hydroelectric power generation for approximately 1,500 power plants in conterminous United States for the period 2001 through 2022 Monthly generation estimates are created by disaggregating each plant's annual generation with the aid of reservoir operations and downstream streamflow data. RectifHyd provides an alternative to EIA-923 imputed monthly generation for U.S. hydropower plants.
Version 1.3 improves reservoir release representation using bespoke reservoir operations data from US Bureau of Reclamation (USBR) Hydromet, California Data Exchange (CDEC), Colorado Decision Support Systems (CDSS), and US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE). Bad data identification algorithms are also enhanced with new imputation and flagging.
