This article examines the questions that provide answers to questions related to the concepts and meanings of road accidents, what types of accidents currently exist, the history of the emergence of the institute for the investigation of these criminal cases. Criminal violations of traffic rules are characterized by significant prevalence and increased public danger. The article also examines the process of development of this institution in our country, and especially in the years of independence.
