Description
LIFE CALLIOPE (Coastal dune habitats, sublittoral sandbanks, marine reefs: Conservation, Protection, and Threats Mitigation - LIFE 17 NAT/IT/000565) is a project funded by the European Commission to protect fragile coastal dune and marine ecosystems and mitigate the impacts of human activities along the Abruzzo coastline in Italy, and the northwestern coasts of Cyprus.
These areas are often altered by human activities that damage the biodiversity of dunes, sandy and rocky seabeds. Among the changes induced by humans are the leveling and cementing of dune areas, degradation of natural environments, excessive fishing and the use of destructive methods in seabeds and cliffs.
To safeguard these precious environments, it is necessary to adopt good practices that allow for the preservation of natural heritage and the beauty of coastal landscapes.
The Layman's report is the final document with all activities developed during the project.
