Analysis of the Determinants of Financial Performance in SMEs in Burkina Faso

Authors/Creators

Description

The question of the financial performance of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) has been the subject of a number of studies, each with its own particular contribution to understanding the concept. The aim of this article is to analyze the determinants of the financial performance of Burkinabe SMEs. Specifically, it examines certain SME financial indicators to highlight those that have an influence on their financial performance. To this end, a number of profitability and financial structure ratios served as the study's basic variables.  The study was carried out on a sample of sixty-one (61) SMEs. Statistical tests enabled us to obtain results. These results show a positive influence of elements such as economic profitability, commercial profitability and financial autonomy on the financial performance of SMEs. A better combination of these different elements increases the chances of SMEs being financially successful.
