Type Locality: Brazil, Río Tapajoz, Villa Braga.

Vernacular Names: Tuft-tailed Spiny Tree Rat.

Distribution: C Brazil, south of the Amazon River in area of Río Tapajoz and Río Madeira.

Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc). Locally common.
