[Macroscelides] fuscus Peters 1852, Reise nach Mossambique, Saugethiere: 87.
Type Locality: Mozambique, near Quelimane, Boror.
Vernacular Names: Dusky Elephant Shrew.
Synonyms: Elephantulus malosae (Thomas 1898).
Distribution: Mozambique; S Malawi; SE Zambia.
Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Discussion: Regarded as distinct by Corbet (1974:5).
