[Simia] johnii J. Fischer 1829, Synopsis Mamm.: 25.
Type Locality: India, Tellicherry.
Vernacular Names: Nilgiri Langur.
Synonyms: Trachypithecus (Kasi) cucullatus (Fischer 1829); Trachypithecus (Kasi) jubatus (Wagner 1839); Trachypithecus (Kasi) leonina (Shaw 1800).
Distribution: S India.
Conservation: CITES – Appendix II; IUCN – Vulnerable.
Discussion: T. vetulus species group. Often referred to subgenus Kasi, see Szalay and Delson (1979:402).
