Gerbillurus (Paratatera) tytonis Bauer and Niethammer 1959, Bonn. Zool. Beitr., 10 (1959): 255.
Type Locality: Namibia, Namib Desert, Sossusvlei.
Vernacular Names: Dune Hairy-footed Gerbil.
Distribution: Namibia (Sossusvlei, Sandwich Harbour and Bobabeb, Namib Desert, and Farm Canaan near diamond region of Namibia).
Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Discussion: Subgenus Paratatera. Taxonomic history summarized by Meester et al. (1986); distribution and habitat reviewed by Griffin (1990), Perrin (1997 b), and Skinner and Smithers (1990).
