Type Species: Bradypus didactylus Linnaeus 1758

Discussion: Reviewed by Wetzel (1985 a). The original spelling of Unaues Rafinesque was Unaüs, which required a substitution of ue for ü. The spellings Cholaepus, Chaelopus, and Choelopus of various authors are all incorrect subsequent spellings of Choloepus Illiger. Cholopus Agassiz, 1847, is an invalid emendation of Choloepus Illiger.
