Description
Steno bredanensis (G. Cuvier in Lesson 1828)

Type Locality: Coast of France.
Vernacular Names: Rough-toothed Dolphin.
Synonyms: Steno compressus (Gray 1843); Steno frontatus (Cuvier 1823); Steno perspicillatus Peters 1876; Steno rostratus (Desmarest 1817).
Distribution: Worldwide: warm-temperate to tropical waters.
Conservation: CITES – Appendix II; IUCN – Data Deficient.
Discussion: Stenopontistes zambezicus is not a synonym, see comment under Sousa chinensis. See Schevill (1987 a) for further taxonomic notes.
