Zygodontomys brunneus Thomas 1898, Ann. Mag. Nat. Hist., ser. 7, 2: 269.
Type Locality: Colombia, "El Saibal, W. Cundinamarca " (indeterminate location of type locality discussed by Voss, 1991 a).
Vernacular Names: Brown Zygodont.
Synonyms: Zygodontomys borreroi (Hernandez-Camacho 1957).
Distribution: Intermontane valleys of N Colombia, 350-1300 m.
Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Discussion: Relegated to a subspecies of Z. brevicauda by Gyldenstolpe (1932) and Hershkovitz (1962), but specific status documented by Voss (1991 a).
