D7.4 Management of ethics issues (initial report)
Description
This D7.4 is the first ethics deliverable in the D4RUNOFF project. Work Package (WP) 7 (Ethics requirements) aims to ensure that the project is operated in accordance with the EU’s high standards for ethics, in compliance with the principle of responsible innovation. WP7 runs throughout the project and D7.4 is the initial report, delivered in M6. This initial report will be updated along the project duration. New versions of the "Management of ethics issues" will be delivered in M30 (D7.6) and M42 (D7.8).
The principal objective of this deliverable is to provide an initial outline of ethics requirements, and of procedural measures already taken and planned to ensure compliance of the D4RUNOFF project with European ethical standards. In this document, the main ethic issues of the project are scrutinized in agreement with the ethic self-assessment carried out during the proposal stage. Four ethic issues have been identified: Participation of human beings, use of personal data, environment and safety risks and the development of artificial intelligence systems. After formulating the ethical issues raised by the Project, the approach that will be followed during the project to ensure compliance with the ethical standards of the EC has been outlined. The legal ethical framework, standards and guidelines applicable to the different ethical issues are also addressed. Also, there is a description of the role of the Data Protection Officer which aims to provide advice on the personal data managed in the Project.
