Description
This repository contains the scripts to reproduce the results of "Do large earthquakes start with a precursory phase of slow slip?" (Bletery and Nocquet, 2024).
If you are interested in a quick read, you will find supplementary figures (as well as the codes written to generate them) and text by just reading the notebook files (*.ipynb files).
If you wish to run the scripts and reproduce the results, you will first need to install the pyacs and pyeq libraries. All the instructions can be found on the following GitHub repository: https://github.com/JMNocquet/pyacs36.
To recover the data from scratch, follow the instruction in zenodo.org/records/8064086. Alternatively, you can use the data provided in the data_byEQ, data_byEQ_2021_2022, and data_byEQ_coseismic_offsets folders and save a lot of time. Those directories had to be zipped to be downloaded. Please start by unzipping them.
Then, you should be able to reproduce all our results from the notebook files corresponding to the tests and figures presented in the different sections of the article.
