The article analyzes the one-cycle construction of the training process of high-qualified athletes in field hockey during the year. The structure and content of the preparatory, competitive and transitional periods of the annual training cycle are determined. Planning of the training process in each of these periods should be carried out taking into account the methodological approaches and principles of the theory of the periodization of sports training.
