“Contribuciones en Venezuela Arqueológica” explora varios temas y ofrece información valiosa sobre un paisaje cultural e históricamente diverso del norte del neotrópico – una recopilación de 17 capítulos de 24 autores de diferentes instituciones de 7 países de América del Sur y Europa. El volumen cubre amplios rangos geográficos y temporales del paisaje arqueológico y etnohistórico de Venezuela, incluidos temas desde la ocupación humana temprana a finales del Pleistoceno hasta temas de arqueología histórica. Entre los tópicos tratados se encuentran la digitalización e inventarios de colecciones, y análisis de datos geoquímicos, paleobotánicos, geográficos e iconográficos sobre distintos aspectos del ambiente y la cultura material. La relevancia de Venezuela para comprender la historia humana profunda y escrita en las regiones de los Andes, la Amazonía y el Caribe se hace evidente a partir de las lecturas de este volumen.
Abstract (English)
“Contribuciones en Venezuela Arqueológica” explores various themes and offers valuable information about a culturally and historically diverse landscape of the northern Neotropics – a compilation of 17 chapters by 24 authors from different institutions from 7 countries in South America and Europe. The volume covers wide geographic and temporal ranges of the archaeological and ethnohistorical landscape of Venezuela, including topics from early human occupation in the late Pleistocene to topics of historical archeology. Among the topics covered are the digitization and inventories of collections, and analysis of geochemical, paleobotanical, geographic and iconographic data on different aspects of the environment and material culture. The relevance of Venezuela to understand the deep and written human history in the regions of the Andes, the Amazon and the Caribbean becomes evident from the readings of this volume.
