Introduction: The Poultry Sector has become the most rapidly expanding sector of the livestock industry, both on a global scale and specifically in India. With a predicted global human population of 9.6 billion by the year 2050, there is a corresponding rise in the demand of livestock commodities.
Under the influence of several consumption forces, dietary preferences are shifting towards animal-derived items, with a particular emphasis on chicken products. In accordance to both USDA and OECD, the per capita consumption of poultry meat in India and globally is increasing. Chicken is the favoured non-vegetarian protein source in the country of India. The poultry farming industry in India provides a contribution of around 1% to the national gross domestic product (GDP) and accounts for 11% of the in general livestock GDP. The forecasted annual growth rate for layers is 6-7%, whereas for chicken meat it is 10-15%.
