The close interconnection of economic development and digitalization is one of the main factors driving global economic growth in the coming decades. In addition to the direct productivity gains that any company, including transport companies, can get from the use of digital technologies for economic development, there is a chain of indirect benefits of digitalization, including time savings, creation of new demand for new goods and services, new quality and values.
Recent studies and publications emphasize the importance of introducing digital technologies in the transport sector to improve the efficiency and competitiveness of companies. Particular attention is paid to cybersecurity, integration of various systems, and data analysis for strategic decision-making.
The main purpose of this article is to thoroughly study the process of digitalization in general and the specifics of its development in the transport sector with specific steps to improve the statistical accounting of digital technologies in the transport sector (by including new indicators, mostly based on international sources, in the database of the State Statistics Service).
