Enchodehis macrodorus (de Man, 1880) Thorne, 1939

Syn. Dorylaimus macrodorus de Man, 1880; Dorylaimus (Doryilium) macrodorus de Man, 1880 (Ditlevsen, 1928); Dorylaimellus macrodorus (de Man, 1880) Thome & Swanger, 1936.
Females: L = 1.4-1.8 mm; a = 22-30; b = 4.5-5.3; c = 62-85; c ’ = 0.5-0.7; V = 40-44%.
Male: L - 1.5 mm; a = 28; b = 5; c = 67.
Description. Body slightly ventrally curved. Cuticle finely striated, 3 gm thick on body, 10 gm thick on tail. Lips hardly separate, lip region 18-20 pm wide, markedly offset by depression. Odontostylc 38-43 gm, odontophore 43-46 gm long, the latter with broad flanges. Oesophagus 320-340 gm long, expanded at about 60% of its length. Prerectum 4-5 times as long as anal body diameter. Vulva transverse, with sclerotized lips. Eggs 90-92 x 32-38 gm. Supplements 12. Tail 18-24 gm long, hemispherical with strongly thickened cuticle.
Main characters. Characterized by the comparatively long body, long odontostyle and the anterior position of the vulva.
Habitat and distribution. Enchodelus macrodorus is the most abundant species of the genus. It is frequent in terrestrial habitats, especially in mosses, rarely also in wet biotopes. It is distributed in Europe (Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, United Kingdom, Norway, Spitsbergen, Sweden, Poland, Slovakia, Austria, Hungary, Romania, Serbia, Bulgaria, Spain, Italy, Russia), Asia (Georgia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, India, Pakistan) and North America (United States).
In Hungary. Widespread in soil and mosses. References: Andrassy, 1952, 1955 b, 1958 b, 1972 a, 1978 a, 1990 a, 1996; Soós, 1938 a,'1940 c.
Etymology. The species epithet is Greek: makros (paKpop) = long, and dorus or dory (δόρυ) = a lance or spear.
