The relationship and impact of multidimensionality TQM and innovation on organisational performance: in the context of the Bangladesh garments industry
Description
The purpose of this paper is to seek the impact and relationship of TQM and Innovation techniques
on organisational performance in Bangladesh garment manufacturing organisations. This paper
presents a conceptual approach for investigating different research hypotheses where multiple
models are tested under structural equation modelling (SEM). The survey data were obtained
following purposive sample questionnaires from 25 garment manufacturing organisations with a
response of 371 participants. In addition, fifteen 'face-to-face' semi-structured interviews were
collected, and a thematic framework matrix approach was used to analyse. Therefore, the research
was conducted using mixed-method concurrent triangulation.
The analysis of the qualitative research on the RMG indicates all aspects of TQM and innovation
substantially impact on organisational financial and non-financial performance. The quantitative data
output demonstrated that administrative Innovation had no significant impact on organisational
financial and non-financial performance, but technological Innovation significantly impacted.
Conversely, the quantitative data output showed only mechanistic TQM significantly impacts on
organisational performance. In addition, organic TQM uses mechanistic TQM as a mediator to
significantly impact on organisational performance while having no direct impact on administrative or
technological Innovation. The mechanistic TQM significantly impacts on administrative Innovation but
is insignificant on technological innovation. In addition, organic TQM mediates mechanistic TQM to
significantly impact on financial and non-financial performance. Therefore, quantitative analysis
showed a complex relationship between quality management and Innovation. So, two different
models have emerged following qualitative and quantitative data analysis, which may help the RMG
organisation to identify how quality and innovation impacts on RMG organisations. Furthermore, from
the perspective of RMG manufacturing, this study contributes a novel theoretical, managerial, and
empirical contribution to the global subject of TQM and Innovation.
