Description

Zenodo is a generalist repository, originally funded by the European Commission through the OpenAIRE project, and since then developed and managed by CERN. Since its launch over 10 years ago, Zenodo has served as an open and dependable home for global science, enabling researchers to share and preserve research outputs of any size, any format, and from any discipline.

Zenodo (the service) is built on InvenioRDM (the software). The InvenioRDM framework serves as a modular and nimble foundation for next-generation features that empower preservation, sharing, discoverability, connection, reuse, and credit for a wide range of digital artifacts and data – enabling best practice workflows to equitably drive knowledge forward. Zenodo’s commitment to collaborative innovation and open infrastructure is realized through a wide range of collaborative activities, including the InvenioRDM Open Source Community (IOSC), a partnership of over thirty global research and cultural organizations and networks which have joined forces to establish a collaborative open source project, support local implementations, and advance a dynamic and sustainable open ecosystem. The IOSC is strengthened by open information sharing, public discussions, and robust collaboration. This open community, with its collaborative and transparent ethos, powers innovation and enables us to anticipate and sustainably support Zenodo’s continued growth and evolution.

The benefits achieved through the IOSC are wide reaching and instrumental to fostering a culture of mentorship and innovation, which in turn, supports continuous improvement. By democratizing access and opportunity, we contribute to the resilience and inclusivity of the software ecosystem, ensuring that sustainability is not only a technical process but also a social achievement. Meet the IOSC partners and projects, learn more about our community practices and governance, share best practices and lessons learned, and see why collaborative Open Science is an essential catalyst for sustainable innovation.
