Whole-genome sequences of two Bacillus subtilis strains with antifungal and growth promoting properties in maize
Description
This study reports the whole-genome assemblies of two endophytic Bacillus subtilis strains originating from desert plants in Cameroon. B. subtilis FC6, isolated from Calotropis procera, was assembled into 13 contigs with a total genome size of 4.17 Mb. B. subtilis RA15, isolated from Alcasia albida, was assembled into 11 contigs with a total genome size of 4.08 Mb. These strains have been shown to exhibit antifungal activities against Fusarium verticillioides and growth promotion in maize (REF). Whole genome sequencing (WGS) represents a valuable strategy for characterizing Bacillus strains and provides insights into biocontrol mechanisms and plant growth promotion
