Description

The bee and aculeate wasp collection of Wilhelm Aerts (1885-1964) at the Zoological Institute of the University of Cologne has been revised. The collection comprises 414 species with 2421 pinned specimens, whose data are listed in full. 17 species are now extinct in North Rhine-Westphalia. The bee Andrena simillima is reported for the first time for the federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate. All the specimens in question were checked for parasitic Strepsipterans, and eight species of bee-parasitic Strepsipterans were found with a total of eleven specimens.
