inst.dlr - Semantic Instrument database

  • 1. Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt (DLR)

Description

The inst.dlr project will be a source and repository for metadata of an instrument and its semantic dependencies and construction. It is intended to provide information when determining the need for services for the planned use of instruments/devices and to support researchers in the search and selection of individual instruments/devices and thus in specific system structures, as well as it should make possible the pre-recorded and pre-entered within an electronic laboratory notebook and other knowledge storage.

Inst.dlr will be developed in the frame work of open and established standards in metadata science and results from the Helmholtz Metadata Collaboration Platform (HMC). Also, it will use the central elements are Persistent Identifiers for Instruments (PIDINST), FAIR Digital Object (FDO) and the Helmholtz Kernel Information Profile (KIP). The project is running during 2023-2025 at the DLR, it is managed by the Research data management (IW-FDM) and has three pilot participants, the Institute for Materials Physics in Space, the Institute of Flight Experiments, and the Institute for Technical Thermodynamics.
