Description

[This description is released as part of the material: see "ReadMe_supplementary_figures.txt"]

These files are supplementary figures supporting the article "The cold interstellar medium of a normal sub-L* galaxy at the end of reionization" by F. Valentino, S. Fujimoto, C. Gimenez-Arteaga et al. (Astronomy & Astrophysics, 2024).

Content:

1. Folder "beta_gaussian_prior/"

Corner plots and best-fit spectral far-infrared/(sub)millimetric energy distribution models for the two lensed images described in the paper using a Gaussian prior on the dust emissivity slope (centered at beta=1.8 and with a standard deviation of 0.25) with the Mercurius code (Witstok+22, available on github). The rest of the priors used for this fit are the default ones when running Mercurius.

"z6.1-z6.2" and "z6.3" refer to the "arc" and "z6.3" lensed images (see Fujimoto+21, Valentino+24).

Files containing the string "*mu21_scl0*" are the output from Mercurius for z6.3 under a self-consistent general dust opacity model and where the photometry has been corrected for lensing using a magnification factor of mu=21 (Fujimoto+21). In the remaining cases, the photometry is not corrected for lensing.

See Section 3 and Appendix A in Valentino+24 for further details.

2. Folder "beta_gaussian_prior/"

Corner plots and best-fit spectral far-infrared/(sub)millimetric energy distribution models for the two lensed images described in the paper using a flat prior on the dust emissivity slope (beta=[1,5]) with Mercurius. The rest of the priors are the default ones.

The naming conventions described above apply for the files in this folder.

3. "cumulative_dust_mass_function.png"

Dust mass cumulative number counts for galaxies at 6 < z < 7.5 and models from the literature. The blue lines show the predictions of the models at z=6, as labeled (Popping+2017, Vijayan+2019, Di Cesare+2023; Delphi: Dayal+2022, Mauerhofer+2023). For reference, the dashed gray line marks the dust mass function from the fiducial model in Popping+2017 at z=0. The filled red star and colored open circles indicate the observational constraints based on our target and other surveys at high redshifts, as labeled (Watson+2015, Bakx+2021, Akins+2022; Fudamoto+2021; Fujimoto+2022). See Section 4.7 of Valentino+24 and Figure 7 therein for further information.
