Description

Three species in the gastropod genus Calliostoma are confirmed as living off Galicia, NW Spain: Calliostoma granulatum (Born, 1778), C. maurolici (G. Seguenza, 1876) and C. leptophyma Dautzenberg & H. Fischer, 1896. Empty shells of two more species were found: C. cleopatra (Locard, 1898) and C. conulus (Linnaeus, 1758). Even though this is the first record of the rare upper bathyal C. cleopatra in Spanish waters, it is unclear whether it currently lives off the Iberian Peninsula.
